Assalamu alaikum respected elders, brothers and sisters.
My name is Mustafa Hamdani and I am ten years old. My topic of discussion is the importance of worship in Karbala.
On the ninth of Muharram the atrocious animals led by Umar bine Sa’ad advanced towards the camp of the holy Hussain (a.s) but Abbas, Abbas the lighthouse in the darkness intercepted the enemies and asked them to wait until he had informed Imam Hussain. When Abbas returned and explained the situation to Imam, Imam Hussain (a.s) instructed Abbas to request one more night, Abbas knew this was strategically a disadvantage thus he inquired. What was the Imam’s (a.s) answer but “To spend it in WORSHIP.”
In surah 23 verses 1 and 2, “successful indeed are the believers, who are humble in their prayers.” In surah 51 verse 56, “and I have not created the jinn and the men except that they should worship.” In surah 30 verse 31 “establish salah and do not be among the mushrikeen.”
This shows how important salah (prayer) is.
Just a couple of Hadith:
Imam Sadiq (a.s) “If you are in a land where you are afraid of thieves and beasts, perform Salah.”
Imam Zain al Abideen:
“Prayer and pleading before Allah (SWT) for help and misfortune are joined together and will remain so until the day of judgement Prayer repels misfortune even though the misfortune may have already firmly established.”
Imam Sajjad is quotes as saying:
“One who performs all that Allah has made obligatory upon him, is the most worshipping of all people.”
