Over 100 people sign up to Imam Hussain Blood Donation Campaign
This past weekend, NHS Blood & Transplant organised a stall at the Muslim Lifestyle Show 2016 – The UK’s biggest halal family day out which took place at the London Olympia.
The event was a huge success and the Islamic Unity Society volunteers were out in force talking to fellow exhibitors, organisers and visitors about the Imam Hussain Blood Donation Campaign. With over 7000 visitors on Saturday alone, IUS volunteers were certainly kept busy.
Visitors to the stall had travelled from all across the world including Europe, the Middle East, Africa and the Far East. The two day event also proved to be an excellent networking platform, leading to a number of discussions and potential opportunities for collaboration and extending outreach. Some lucky IUS volunteers even had the opportunity to meet and greet world famous performer Sami Yusuf.
Aimen Al-Diwani from IUS said: “Events like this are fantastic because you get to see the diversity within the Muslim world and meet so many different people – Muslims and non-Muslims. What’s more, it’s the perfect opportunity for us to educate people on the importance of blood donation and clear up some of the misconceptions within our communities”.
Over the course of the weekend IUS volunteers registered over 100 potential donors – an incredible achievement which could translate into many lives being saved.
