In the last few years, the IUS, Muslim Student Council (MSC) and the Rehana Foundation have worked in partnership to provide aid to flood affected of Pakistan.

The “Mera Ghar” (literally “My House”) project, one aspect of this partnership, raised over £13,000 and provided 28 new houses for the flood-affected of District Layyah in Northern Pakistan.

Other phases to the IUS-MSC PNWC included:

  1. The provision of immediate shelter, aid and food for 80 homeless people.
  2. Multiple trips made to the regions of Muzzaffar Garh and Layyah to provide aid, as well as aid delivered directly to people displaced by the floods who arrived at city mosques.
  3. Five thousand pounds of aid was distributed via the office of Ayatullah Mohsin Ali Najafi to those affected by the floods in remote Northern areas of Pakistan who we were unable to reach.
  4. The reconstruction of roofing for the houses of two Sayyed ladies whose housing was damaged by floods.
  5. Separate to the PNWC, a General Welfare Fund was established which has delivered £2000 of Sehme-Sadat and £1000 of Fitrah in 2012 to the needy in Pakistan.
