The IUS Sisters Book Club was initially set up after a group of friends realised they were all reading or intending to read similar books, and so decided that the best way to gain from what they would read would be to arrange a gathering in which they could explore the themes of these books and learn from one another.
It developed into a monthly meeting where members are able to discuss ideas surrounding the chapters allocated to that session.
It is an informal and fun setting where members can relax and appreciate different views in order to understand various angles regarding topics of interest.
The book currently being read is ‘Adab al sala’ by Imam Khomeini.
Prayer is a blessing that has been bestowed upon us that we may become closer to the Almighty. Indeed, its importance is such that it has been said “The first thing about which the servant is questioned is the salat, if it was accepted his other (worshipping) acts would be accepted, and if it was returned to him, his other acts would be returned to him (too)”- Imam al Sadiq (AS)
Prayer is something that we are constantly striving to perfect, and this book offers a detailed explanation of the disciplines and moral secrets of prayer.
So far the meetings have taken us on a journey to explore the meaning behind our prayers and to discuss practical methods of increasing our connection with Allah (SWT)
