In 2015 IUS Aid supported building of a neighbourhood for orphans and poor people with disabilities in the city of Al Rifai, the province of Dhi Qar Rifai, Iraq. The neighbourhood has gone through a three stage construction of housing units totalling 70 houses after completion. At present, there is a community of over 200 orphans, windows, disabled and needy individuals. There are wider plans to create a school, park, playground and cultural centre.
For this community this year, IUS Aid has offered to support the creation of a water network. At present, the greatest complaint is of the lack of water. Water comes in large tanks every three days.
With the hot weather of Iraq, this causes great grievance to the populace. After consultations with engineers, it is estimated that an initial $7000 is required to create the main pipeline to the neighbourhood and then a further $30,000 to provide pipe-lining to the individual residences. Therefore, IUS Aid is appealing for £25,000 (~$37,000) to be raised for this cause.
Please help us provide the gift of water, which is a beautiful sadaqah jariya (ongoing charity).
