IUS Team

The Islamic Unity Society is an independent UK charity (Number: 1066910) run by young volunteers nationwide. Established in 1995, the IUS has gradually grown and now runs several projets, events and services that bring together students and young professionals of all ethnic backgrounds.

The organisation structure of the IUS consists of five teams: Mancheser events, London events, Camps & Trips, Voice of Unity Magazine and Blood Donation Campaign.

How is the IUS run? The Executive Committee (EC) is the highest management committee of the society, and acts to coordinate the activities of each of the five regional and national committees. The 14 members of the EC are elected for one year terms at the Annual General Meeting (AGM). The EC also receives support and advice from a group of trustees and Honorary Advisors (HAs).

IUS operates a membership model. This means individuals subscribe to the IUS by paying an annual fee of £15 for adults or £10 for students, and they are entitled to stand and vote in the elections. The current incumbents are:

IUS is totally independent of any mosque or institution - the governance structure is decided entirely by IUS members as outlined in our constitution. Financial funding relies mostly on generous donations and membership subscriptions, and the financial accounts are audited and submitted to the Charity Commission annually.

The key assets of the IUS are our volunteers - their passion, time and effort is what makes everything possible.

The Get Involved page contains more information about how you can join one of the five IUS teams: Mancheser events, London events, Camps & Trips, Voice of Unity Magazine and Blood Donation Campaign. From there many volunteers can get involved in the Executive Committee and run the society at a higher national level.

We always welcome new people to the committees to get involved with the existing projects and suggest ideas for new projects for the benefit of our communities. Visit the Get Involved page for more information.
