Martyrs Appeal Case Study – Abbas

Abbas’s* life changed after he lost his legs due to a suicide blast in Karbala Gamay Shah, Lahore. As an auto-rickshaw driver, he also lost his means to making money. Abbas, being the eldest in the household, also supported his younger siblings.

IUS Aid was able to support the medical costs and other living costs like rent. Abbas now manages day to day activities via artificial legs. He says he is grateful for God for the trial.

Abbas’ case is not unheard of.

A report from Centre for Research and Security Studies (CRSS) shows 4,612 Pakistanis died in 2015 as a direct result of violence (7,655 in 2014). Of these 272 fatalities were officially marked as “sectarian” (420 in 2014) and vast majority (76%) of these fatalities were Shia.
