Hazrat Mukhtar, by Zamin Sheikh (10)

14Oct 2022

My name is Zamin, today I am going to talk about Hazrat Mukhtar A.S. I chose Hazrat Mukhtar A.S as my favourite character in the story of Karbala because Al- Mukhtar is an individual who left a mark in history and had a legacy of bringing justice to the Holy Household of the Prophet Muhammad PBUH. He is also known as “The Avenger” and the Super Shia because of his heroic actions and his determination to avenge the blood of Imam Hussain A.S. Hazarat Mukhtar was a very courageous and a brave man who would never give up. Al Mukhtar’s name means chosen in Arabic.

He was born in Taif in Saudi Arabia; he moved to Iraq at a young age and grew up in Kufa. He was also known as Abu Ishaq. Al-Mukhtar took part in the Battle of “Al-Jisr” when he was 13, where he lost his father and brothers. Regardless of his young age, he insisted on going to the battlefield but was prevented by his uncle.

How Hazrat Mukhtar killed Hurmala:
Hurmala was an assassin; he would kill children and women with his knives. Hazarat Mukhtar and Hurmala had a epic face off, Hurmala told how he threw the arrow to Baby Ali Asghars’ (youngest son of Imam Hussain A.S) neck, a six month old child, who was martyred with a three headed arrow and this made Hazarat Mukhtar very angry and upset. Hurmala was captured and killed by Hazrat Mukhtar.

Hazarat Mokhtar was martyred on 3rd April 687 A.D. in Kufa, Iraq and is buried in Great Mosque of Kufa, Masjid al-Kufa.
I was inspired by Hazarat Mukhtar because he avenged Imam Husain’s blood. I have visited the shrine of Hazrat Mukhtar when I was 2 years old.

I also watched a series made in Iran called “Mukhtar Namah” with my family, which has enhanced my knowledge about the history. I want to keep Hazrat Mukhtar’s legacy alive by always speaking the truth and treating people justly.
